SKA Faces Major Challenge After Tolchinsky’s Departure, Says Coach Plyushchev

Honored coach of Russia, Vladimir Plyushchev, commented on the departure of forward Sergey Tolchinsky from SKA. The forward has signed a two-year contract with Metallurg.

“Tolchinsky is a significant player with considerable authority. He has the ability to single-handedly influence the outcome of a game and easily forms chemistry with his teammates.

Can SKA find a suitable replacement for him? I have my doubts. This is a substantial loss,” Plyushchev stated, as reported by Vprognoze.

In 129 games with the St. Petersburg team, the athlete accumulated 74 points (28 goals and 46 assists). During the 2024/2025 season, Tolchinsky played 51 matches, recording 16 points (7 goals and 9 assists). Last season, he ranked first among SKA players in the KHL for the number of goals scored in situations where less than 10 seconds elapsed from the start of the power play.
