Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Aiming for Release Before 2030, Confirms Game Director

One of the most notable announcements at The Game Awards 2025 was made by Arcanaut Studios, which is collaborating with LucasFilm Games to develop Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. However, the excitement quickly dimmed when gamers learned that the studio was established only at the start of 2025, indicating that the release of their debut game is still a long way off. Many began to speculate that the launch might not happen until at least 2030; nevertheless, this assertion was swiftly disputed by the game director, Casey Hudson.

Hudson stated that they plan to release Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic earlier than 2030, but he did not specify a timeframe. Typically, modern AAA games require anywhere from 5 to 8 years to develop, but it seems that Hudson aims to wrap up production in no more than 4 years. We can only hope that no unforeseen issues arise during development.

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is being developed using the Unreal Engine 5 for PC and unnamed consoles.
