Sunderland Enters the Race for Granit Xhaka with €10 Million Bid, Says Tavolieri

English club Sunderland is in the race to secure the transfer of Bayer midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to journalist Sasha Tavolieri on social media platform X.

Bayer and Sunderland are negotiating a deal valued at €10 million through Sunderland’s owner, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus.

In response to competing interest from Neom, Sunderland is making a bold move by offering Xhaka a three-year contract,» Tavolieri reported.

Previously, Bayer rejected the initial offer from Saudi Arabian club Neom regarding Xhaka’s transfer.

Xhaka joined Bayer from Arsenal in the summer of 2023. During the last season, the midfielder participated in 49 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing seven assists. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2028. According to Transfermarkt, the player’s market value is estimated at €12 million.

Xhaka was part of the Bayer team that won the Bundesliga title in the 2023/2024 season.
