Tether launches open-source wallet development kit to empower DeFi innovations Translation: Tether launches open-source wallet development kit to empower DeFi innovations

The company Tether, known for issuing the highly popular stablecoin USDT, has introduced an open-source wallet development toolkit (WDK).

According to a statement on the company’s website, this toolkit is «designed for people, machines, and AI agents.» Multi-chain wallets can be integrated into any device—»from the smallest embedded systems to mobile, desktop, and server platforms.»

The developers believe that non-custodial wallets are the foundation of a free and open financial ecosystem. They «create a resilient infrastructure that is immune to interference or control by centralized entities.»

Thanks to the open-source nature of the WDK, anyone can develop «their own independent, secure permissionless solutions.»

The team highlighted that unlike commercial products that impose fees or rely on specific ecosystems, Tether’s toolkit represents a fully open and independent framework. It supports Bitcoin, Lightning Network, EVM blockchains, second-layer solutions such as Arbitrum, as well as TON, Solana, and other networks.

«Tether’s WDK supports a wide range of essential DeFi tools—from lending to swapping. The platform also offers advanced features that allow developers to build comprehensive custom solutions for diverse use cases,» the website states.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that omni-chain versions of the USDT stablecoin and Tether’s tokenized gold XAUT have launched on Solana.
