Three Fields Entertainment Faces Potential Team Layoffs Following Wreckreations Poor Performance

Three Fields Entertainment, a team established by former leaders of Criterion and creators of Burnout, has alerted all employees about potential layoffs. This was announced by studio head Fiona Sperry.

The studio released the racing sandbox game Wreckreation in October, but according to Sperry, the developers «won’t see sales revenue in the foreseeable future.» On Steam, the game peaked at 199 concurrent players, which has significantly impacted the commercial outlook for Three Fields Entertainment.

Although THQ Nordic served as the publisher, Three Fields largely funded its operations throughout the year, covering expenses for support and content development post-launch. Sperry admitted that without the interest and assistance from a publisher, further development has become unfeasible.

It’s worth noting that Three Fields Entertainment was founded in 2014 in Hampshire by Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward, both of whom previously ran Criterion and were key figures behind most titles in the Burnout series. Prior to Wreckreation, the studio released Dangerous Golf, Danger Zone, and Danger Zone 2.

You can support Three Fields Entertainment by purchasing Wreckreation on PC (Steam), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. A textual translation into Russian is available. Today, an update for the game has been released, adding cross-play between PC and consoles, new car skins, a photo mode in the pause menu, and several other enhancements.
