Toby Foxs Update: Deltarune Chapter 5 Release Pushed Beyond Early 2026

In a detailed message to the community commemorating the tenth anniversary of Undertale, the game’s creator, Toby Fox, shared updates regarding the release timeline for the fifth chapter of Deltarune.

As of September 8, the production of the next chapter of Deltarune has made significant progress. Here are the key points from Fox’s report:

The developer reminded everyone that, in addition to the actual development, the game goes through stages of localization, porting, and testing. Only after these processes are completed is the title ready for launch. Therefore, Fox currently has only one deadline: beginning the localization process by the end of 2025. After this, the fifth chapter may experience minor gameplay adjustments, but no significant changes to the story should occur.

Given this context, Fox doesn’t believe that the new chapter of Deltarune will be released in the first half of 2026. However, he clarified that there are «no external factors that could affect the release date of the title.»

There are also other updates. For instance, on September 20 and 21, Fox’s team will host streams featuring gameplay of Undertale—viewers can join on Twitch and the official game website. The event is spread over two days to prevent any one stream from being overly lengthy. The first day will cover the initial half of Undertale, while the second day will focus on the remaining part.
