Trusova: Embracing Training as I Reach 36 Weeks of Pregnancy

The silver medalist of the 2022 Olympic Games, **Alexandra Ignatova (Trusova)**, has announced her plans to resume training soon. Currently, she is in her 36th week of pregnancy and has confirmed that if she happens to give birth during her sessions, it won’t pose a risk to her baby.

«After discovering I was pregnant, I stopped training. Since November, I haven’t been training seriously, which is unusual for me since I’ve been skating since I was about six. I participated in shows up until the third month because I had a lot scheduled, but I didn’t jump. I also took part in several events, including the ‘Russian Challenge,’ where I skated at five months pregnant, and we held a camp while I was in my seventh month. While those weren’t my regular training sessions, they were still demanding activities; I felt quite exhausted, but they didn’t count as training.

Now that I’m approaching my 36th week in a few days, I’m ready to start training again. I’ve been told that it’s safe to begin more active training at this stage since giving birth isn’t a concern anymore. I just came back from a Pilates class. I’m already working out at the gym, using the treadmill, and doing exercises, especially for my knees, as my weight has increased and has been tough on them due to previous injuries. I’m documenting everything and will share it with you soon. I’ll gradually start my recovery process to get back in shape quickly after the baby arrives,» Trusova wrote on her personal social media account.

As a reminder, Alexandra and Makars Ignatov tied the knot in August 2024. Earlier this year, news of her pregnancy surfaced. In early April, the couple hosted a gender reveal party, where it was announced they are expecting a boy. Reports indicate that, based on her due date, Sasha is expected to give birth to their first child this summer.
