Ubisoft Acquires Amazon Studio Behind Former Rainbow Six Siege Leader’s New MOBA Project

In October, Amazon significantly reduced its workforce, and the gaming division was also swept up in this wave of layoffs. Although it was previously stated that the restructuring would not affect the MOBA March of Giants from Amazon Games Montreal, the parent company ultimately opted to sell both the game rights and the studio itself, with Ubisoft stepping in as the buyer.

The details of the deal remain undisclosed, but it’s known that Ubisoft will acquire the rights to March of Giants, while Amazon will provide marketing support through Twitch. The team from Amazon Games Montreal will be integrated into one of Ubisoft’s so-called «creative studios.» Recently, Ubisoft announced its own structural changes, resulting in the establishment of a new subsidiary, Vantage Studios, alongside the formation of independent divisions dubbed «creative studios.»

Several former Ubisoft employees are now part of the Montreal branch. Notable among them are Xavier Marquis, who previously served as the creative director for Rainbow Six Siege, and Alexandre Parizeau, who held the position of managing director at Ubisoft Toronto. Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, welcomed them in his address, highlighting that their experience will be invaluable to the company, particularly in developing successful esports and service projects on a global scale.

The team at Amazon Games Montreal is working on a free-to-play MOBA titled March of Giants. The game was announced in August 2025 and later underwent alpha testing. In March of Giants, players fight in two teams of four, lead armies, and place tactical structures on the battlefield.

Ubisoft views March of Giants as a fresh and innovative project that has the potential to provide a new experience for MOBA fans, attract players who have previously shown little interest in the genre, and eventually establish itself as a successful esports discipline.

There is currently no release date for March of Giants. The game can be found on Steam, but it is not available in Russian.

A video about the game was released at the end of August.
