When Nike Calls: Slutsky Shares a Funny Golan Incident

The head coach of Shanghai Shenhua, **Leonid Slutsky**, and the midfielder of the Russian national team, **Alexander Golovin**, reminisced about an incident when the player violated his contractual obligations with the equipment manufacturer Nike.

**Golovin**: I had a contract with Nike. At one point, they made the boots quite uncomfortable, so I asked them to make a more comfortable pair. They still sent me the same type. So I just went out to play in Adidas, that’s it.

**Slutsky**: And I drew over the Adidas stripes and colored them in (laughs).

**Golovin**: For some reason, Viktorovich called me.

**Slutsky**: I got a call from Nike saying, «Can you tell your *** something?» Slutsky recounted during a segment on the [YouTube channel Fonbet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXmfmzMfxiU&t=1603s).

Alexander Golovin has been representing Monaco since 2018. In the current French Ligue 1 season, the Russian has participated in 10 matches for Monaco, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
