Womens NBA Breaks Attendance Record with Over 2.5 Million Fans in a Single Season

For the first time in its history, the Women’s NBA has attracted over 2.5 million viewers in a single season.

“Our teams welcomed 2,501,609 fans across 226 games this season. This is a new record that surpasses the achievement of 2002, which required 256 games to reach such a number,” NBA representatives stated to ESPN.

The rising interest in women’s basketball began during college tournaments, where the competition between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese captured widespread attention. Both athletes made their league debuts last season, generating significant interest among audiences.

Despite injuries to Clark and Reese this year, game attendance remained high. Factors contributing to this included the arrival of rookie Paige Bueckers in Dallas, the debut of the new team Golden State Women’s Basketball, and expanded television coverage. Additionally, the regular season was extended from 40 to 44 games in 2025, further impacting the overall figures.
