Starfield Update: Low-End Graphics Settings but No New Content

It has been two months since the team behind Starfield promised «lots of exciting things for this year,» and finally, there’s an update. However, there are some caveats. The new patch, currently in «beta,» introduces «very low» graphics settings, makes minor improvements to the Creation Kit, and fixes a lengthy list of bugs. Yet, there is no new content to be found.

For some players, the addition of the lowest graphical preset could be a lifesaver, as Starfield can be quite demanding on weaker systems. Unfortunately, from a gameplay mechanics perspective, there seems to be no significant progress.

This update is primarily technical and aimed at modders: it now allows file uploads of up to 2 GB, enables custom icon additions, and lets users combine mods into bundles in the Creations Club. It’s no surprise that such a barebones patch has sparked another wave of disappointment on Reddit.

Let’s hope that Bethesda is simply laying the groundwork for something truly significant. Remember, the title is available on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series. An official Russian translation has yet to be released, but rumors about a PlayStation 5 launch have emerged.
